A Bicycle Ride of Compassion for the Children of South Asia
During the past few years, David Argabright and the South Asia Partnership have raised thousands of dollars for child development centers in South Asia. Starting with a 575 mile ride in 2009 and 820 miles in 2010, David & Sharon Argabright rode all the way from San Diego, CA, to St. Augustine, FL, in 2011: 3,100 miles of compassion. In 2012 they rode 2,012 miles from Nashville, TN, to Key West, FL, and 2013 they completed 1,080 miles, starting again in Nashville, TN, and riding to Austin, TX.
Announcing Compassion 575—2014
David reports: “The 2014 ride for the children in South Asia will be from MEXICO to MUSIC CITY (Del Rio, TX to Nashville, TN) beginning March 25. We commit this 1,320 mile bicycle ride to God, for His glory to save children struggling in extreme poverty in Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. We covet your continued prayers as we train, plan, and promote Compassion 575. We celebrate reaching $604,189 as of 31 December 2013 and thank all the partners that have given sacrificially to sponsor children in CDCs. God has done this and we feel blessed to be part of His work for the children in South Asia. Please join us on the journey on Facebook and www.compassion575.com.”
“Friends, partners and churches have responded to Christís call to help the poor and needy. Funds have been raised to sponsor 27 new CDCs for two years. Thank you so much for investing! NCM is reaching children that, without the love of Christ, live in hopelessness, trying to survive in a world of poverty, disease, natural disasters, exploitation and even slavery. The difference the Lord has made in the lives of the children that are sponsored is incredible. Please consider giving a child hope!” (David Argabright after his 2011 ride—hear David talk about his bike rides in a Holiness Today article)
A gift of US$11 a month or US$132 will sponsor a child for a year. A CDC of 75 children costs US$9,900 for an entire year. All proceeds will be sent to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM) and 100% of your tax-deductible gift will be used to support the operating costs of Child Development Centers in South Asia. NCM has staff in place to begin immediately serving the needs of children, but they lack the resources and are awaiting our financial support.
In the following video you can watch David Argabright rejoicing in the safe completion of his 2012 ride of compassion: 23-and-a-half days from Nashville to Key West!
