The primary way in which you can be a part of the ministry in South Asia is through prayer. You may also choose to be involved more personally at home through the South Asia Partnership or directly on the field by joining a Work & Witness team to South Asia or going as a volunteer through Nazarene Mission Corps (formerly NIVS). Take a look at this leaflet (PDF; size: 289KB) to discover where you and your skills are needed in South Asia. You can also print the leaflet and distribute it in your church or to your friends.
During the past few years, David Argabright and the South Asia Partnership have raised thousands of dollars for CDCs in South Asia through a special bicycle fundraiser. Learn more about this monumental effort on the Compassion 575 page and on www.compassion575.com and be a part of it by sponsoring a child or becoming a shadow rider!

As the "movement of God" in South Asia continues, the need to raise up and educate pastors increases. We now have more than 750 church missions that are working toward becoming an organized church. We must educate our brothers and sisters whom God is calling into the ministry so that they can be properly prepared to lead their flock. We currently have 400 pastors in the educational program for whose education we need support of $144,000. To educate one pastor requires $30 per month, $360 per year, and $1,440 to complete the entire program up to ordination. If you would like to contribute to this effort, mark your donation "APT 1017—Pastoral Education" and send it to the address above.
It is estimated that more than 65% of the population in South Asia age 16 and older cannot read. With the help of Ministry Tools, our church is setting the pace to creatively evangelize and disciple these people. The Bible Story Cloth ($25 per cloth), Evangecube ($3 per cube), Gospel Soccer Ball ($12 per ball), Hacky Sack ($3 per sack), and God's Story Audio Player ($50–60 each) are a few of the tools being used effectively on the South Asia Field. We are now excited to launch our newest and most effective tool to date, the Bible Story Card Notebook. Our Partnership has a goal to equip every church, mission church, JESUS Film team and church-planter with this vital tool. The cost is only $10 per set (printed locally); 7,500 are needed across South Asia. If you would like to contribute to this effort, mark your donation "APT 1017—Ministry Tools" and send it to the address above.
The final weeks of fighting in Sri Lanka's 25-year civil war left around 300,000 people displaced. For months, these IDPs (internally displaced persons) lived in large camps in northern Sri Lanka. When they were allowed to return home, they found their homes in ruins. Many have nothing but the clothes on their backs, a large percentage is severely malnourished. NCM Lanka helped with food relief for more than 25,000 IDPs in the camps and has gained the trust of these people. Now they are getting ready for resettlement activities. There is a great need for food, housing, other basic necessities, and counselling. NCM Lanka first plans to minister to the children through child development centres and nutrition programs. The demand is overwhelming, and the IDPs depend on your help! If you would like to contribute to resettlement ministries, mark your donation "APT 1017—IDP Ministry" and send it to the address above.
You can also make a donation for a specific project. The following projects have been approved through Nazarene Compassionate Ministries and are part of the official NCM needs list. To support any of these projects, click on the project title and you will be taken to the respective need on the NCM needs list, with the option of donating through a secure online system using Amex, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover, by sending a check, or by redeeming an NCM Gift Card.
The first five projects operate in all South Asian countries; funds are used wherever the greatest need is. If you are interested specifically in one country, select one of these links:
South Asia Child Development Centres
Need: $6,000 per year for a group of 75 children
Help underprivileged children to regularly receive school education or after-school tuition, sufficient and nutritious food, and regular health check-ups.
South Asia Vocational Training: Empowering the Poor
Need: $2,450 per centre (10–20 students)
Enable the poor to earn a living and support their families by allowing them to learn a useful trade, such as tailoring and handicrafts, typewriting and computer skills, carpentry, homestead gardening, and other locally relevant and marketable skills.
South Asia Small Businesses
Enable the disadvantaged and powerless to earn money independently by supplying capital investment for the start of small businesses, such as animal rearing, fishing, fruit tree plantations, transportation, small shops or tailoring.
South Asia Disaster Response
Need: $75,000 for 5,000 families for 2 weeks
Most disasters strike suddenly and without warning. This relief fund will allow NCM to be prepared and bridge over the first two weeks following disasters until larger organizations are ready to send funds. Relief aid usually includes food, clean water, shelter, and hygiene articles.
South Asia Ministry Centres (for this need, please contact us directly)
temporary (3–5 years; for 50–75 people): $450
semi-permanent (15 years; for 100–150 people): $2,900
permanent (30 years; for 250 people): $6,000
Ministry centres serve as a home for child development, vocational training, health care and education, and for sharing the Good News and worshipping the Lord. They are a direct reflection of Jesus reaching out to people through teaching, preaching, and healing people (Matthew 4:23). There are three basic sizes of different quality and durability. Construction costs are kept low by seating people on the floor in tight rows (as is habitually done in many South Asian churches).
South Asia Blockmaking Machines
Need: $3,630 (manual); $4,700 (electric)
Provide training and a job in block-making for several underprivileged men, and support Nazarene ministry in general by allowing the local churches and NCM to construct buildings more cheaply. (Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka only)
Bangladesh Training Centres: Equipping for the Future
Need: $39,000 per centre (15–20 needed)
Help improve the quality of sustainable and long-term development programs by providing a space to conduct trainings in a cost-effective and learning-conducive environment.
Bangladesh Motorcycle Project
Need: $1,675 per bike (5 needed)
Help Nazarene leaders in Bangladesh to accomplish their work more efficiently and serve their people better through cheaper and more reliable travel.
Nepal Child Development Centres
Need: $9,375 per centre per year (75 children)
Enhance the quality of life of underprivileged children by giving them a chance to attend school and receive nutritious food.
Nepal Ministry Centres: Equipping for the Future
Need: $4,500 (remote rural, 15 needed); $10,000 (rural, 10 needed); $15,000 (semi-urban, 5 needed); $25,000 (urban, 5 needed)
Help transform the lives of thousands of underprivileged people and improve the quality of sustainable and long-term development programs by providing a space to conduct trainings in a cost-effective and learning-conducive environment.
Nepal Motorcycle Project
Need: $2,000 per bike (5 needed)
Help Nazarene leaders in Nepal to accomplish their work more efficiently and serve their people better through cheaper and more reliable travel.
There are currently no needs list projects available for Pakistan.
Sri Lanka Internal Refugees: Ministry Resources
Almost 300,000 people were displaced in northern Sri Lanka during the final weeks of the civil war which ended in May 2009. NCM helped with food relief in the refugee camps for several months. Now resettlement ministries have started; important resources are needed to reach maximum effectiveness.
Sri Lanka Motorcycle Project
Need: $2,200 per bike (5 needed)
Help Nazarene leaders in Sri Lanka to accomplish their work more efficiently and serve their people better through cheaper and more reliable travel.

Some of these items can be donated in kind. Please note that it is not permitted to import medicine, drugs, and used clothing to any South Asian country.
